Bee Friendly Beekeeping, LLC exists to increase the honey bee population, by teaching people about honey bees &
helping people to have their own bee hives (and honey!).
Teaching People, Saving Bees, For our Future
Bee Friendly Beekeeping, LLC was born out of the question, "Why don't more people keep bees, like they use to?". From that question came the vision to teach people about the importance of honeybees, their impact on the environment and to help people make a difference in the world by having honey bee hives on their property.
When you meet Jeff you immediately know that he is passionate about honeybees. Jeff started keeping bees when he was a teenager, for his fathers orchard. He says that was when it was "easy". When he returned to beekeeping as an adult he found that it was a changed world. No longer could you put out a hive, add the honey supers and raise bees. Our honeybee population had been invaded by new strains of deadly viruses , mites, pests, diseases and disorders.
Jeff & Teresa Dittemore are members of the Indiana Beekeepers Association, and Indiana State Beekeepers Association. Additionally, Jeff is the project manager for the Indiana queen rearing project, to help establish a statewide honeybee co-op of mite resistant, Indiana native bees.
His goal is to get more people interested, and involved in keeping bees, offering a variety of services to help you enjoy hosting bees in your own backyard. He also offers free swarm removal and services the greater Indianapolis area.
Teresa is an avid gardener and works behind the scenes, and along side of Jeff, to make beekeeping accessible to people.
Together, Jeff and Teresa are committed to making your experience with honey bees educational, fun and "fruitful".
